I grew up in the island state of Tasmania, Australia. I moved to the UK in 2000 and I married a lovely Englishman in late 2002.
I learned to knit (re-learned) and crochet within the same fortnight in November 2006. With no-one to tell me what was ‘too hard’ and the whole blogosphere to inspire me I soon frogged my first scarf attempt and began making hats in the round soon followed by whatever took my fancy.
I got in to design after not being able to find the kind of jumpers and cardigans I wanted to knit and crochet. Nice crochet patterns seem particularly hard to find. Treenah was my first published crochet pattern and was followed by several more. in December 2008 I was lucky enough to have my first knittin pattern, Fern Glade, published in Knitty
I learned to spin in mid 2008 and bought a lovely Ashford Traveller wheel. I started dyeing roving and selling it in my etsy shop a few months later.

Love your web site and all your pretty things.

good to see there are some great knitters and designers in the UK. I love your Fern Glade pattern on Knitty!. I too have an Etsy shop, but am finding time a bit tight at the moment so I have been knitting socks for a bit of instant satisfaction. Currently working on a version of the Lady Sweater based on Elizabeth Zimmermans baby jacket pattern that I found from the Yarn Harlot Blog….practising European knitting whilst doing it too!!!
Keep up the great work…..I am hoping to try spinning this year !!!

I’m a huge fan of “Fern Glade” and have made several for my family. They love it and always get compliments.
I posted my progress on Ravelry as well as on my blog. I hope to send many people to knitty.com for your pattern.
You deserve the praise. Thanks so much for your hard work.
