Forget the needles, I’m taking the hook

Tonight Mr M and I leave for our holiday to Australia to visit my family.

I’ve had my travel projects planned for weeks! I’m going to work on a new crochet stole design in this sea wool.

I decided not to even try to take needles and go with crochet which I know is ‘safe’. I even bought a wooden hook just in case security decide to be funny about a metal hook.

It’s a long old flight to Australia, with connections in the middle and then a wait in Sydney airport while we get our domestic flight. This is the first time we’ve done the trip where I’m not completely dreading the boredom of the flight! I’m actually hoping to get a lot of useful crochet done. I’ve got 3 audio books queued up on the ipod to help keep me going.

I’m not taking any other projects, because I’m taking a very small carry-on suitcase. If I finish the stole I’m going to have to buy yarn while I’m there. What a shame!

So things will be a bit quiet around here for the next 3 weeks.

  1. The beret looks great.

    Have a fabulous trip!

  2. I love that color! I heard a good suggestion for wanting to knit on a plane but not wanting to chance taking needles: Pencils!

  3. That’s a gorgeous colourway of Sea Wool–am looking forward to seeing the new stole. ❤
